A Brush With Kindness-Home Repair Program

 

 

A Brush With Kindness serves as an extension of our new home construction program, focusing on minor and mostly exterior repairs on homes of low-to-moderate income families to improve house soundness and safety, restore pride and dignity, and revitalize local neighborhoods. A Brush With Kindness also strengthens connections within the community and preserves affordable housing stock. As in new house builds, A Brush With Kindness families must be willing to partner with us and have the ability to pay for services.

A Brush with Kindness ensures that families live in safe and well-maintained homes. Through this program, families and individuals will be able to reclaim their homes with pride and dignity.

 

Scope of Services

Each project will be evaluated by Watauga Habitat for Humanity's Construction Staff. Projects might include:

• Exterior painting
• Landscaping
• Porch repair
• Exterior door repair and replacement
• Siding repair and replacement
• Soffit or fascia replacement
• Limited roof repair and replacement

Partner Qualifications

A Brush With Kindness Home Repair Program is open to any homeowner in Watauga County.  Habitat believes in offering a hand up, not a handout. For this reason, partnering families must meet the following requirements:

1. Demonstrate a need through a property inspection and income guidelines
2. Be willing to partner by completing “sweat equity” on their project or another Habitat initiative
3. Must have the deed in their name and currently be living at the property
4. Have homeowner's insurance
