Our Teams & Commitees
Responsible for drafting the selection criteria used to select families for approval by the board of directors. The committee is also responsible for:
- Informing prospective homeowners that they may be eligible to apply
- Developing an orientation program for applicants
- Developing application forms
- Screening applications
- Interviewing prospective partner families
- Recommending applicants to board of directors for approval
Once an application has been approved as a prospective homeowner, the committee works in conjunction with the Family Support Committee to continue the relationship building process.
Works with Site Selection to evaluate potential sites, creates workable house plans, develops systems and schedules for organizing families and volunteers for construction, and establishes contacts in the professional community. The opportunities offered to the community to participate in the construction process are vital to the continued growth of the affiliate. Volunteer participation, recognition and encouragement; spreads the good news of Habitat throughout the community and sustains the health and growth of the affiliate.
The Construction Committees are responsible for:
- Construction coordination and schedules
- Construction supervision
- Material procurement
- Safety
This committee seeks to strengthen the support of the affiliate’s work by gaining volunteers and financial resources from community groups included faith and civic-based organizations. The purpose of the committee is to recognize, celebrate, provide support for, reach out to, and increase participation from the local community for Watauga Habitat for Humanity. The Community Outreach Committee is charged with:
- Supporting current coalitions and faith communities
- Identifying and cultivating faith communities and organizations not yet involved with Watauga Habitat
- Planning build projects aligned with Habitat’s mission to engage faith communities.
The Resource Development Committee provides guidance to Watauga Habitat’s development program. The committee serves as the mechanism by which board members and other volunteers are involved in the fundraising process. The RDC is charged with focusing the organization and its board of directors on essential elements in the fundraising process. This includes: paying close attention to the current strength of the affiliate’s mission and case for support, serving on Blueprints and Bow Ties fundraising team, understanding the resources required to carry out our mission, assisting in raising the necessary funds and demonstrating good stewardship of the funds received.
App Builds a Home is a student-led organization that supports Watauga Habitat for Humanity by cultivating student volunteers, donations, and other resources that enable Watauga Habitat for Humanity to continue it’s mission.
