People in our community partner with Watauga Habitat for Humanity to build a place they can call home.  Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.

When a new project opens up, interested families are welcome to contact Watauga Habitat for Humanity to answer any questions and submit an homeowner application.  This may be followed by a series of interviews by the Family Selection Committee.  This committee is comprised of volunteers who review the applications and work with applicants to assemble all required information.  The process includes a credit check, requests made for references, income tax forms, pay stubs and other documentation.  If the family selection committee feels that the applicant is ready and qualified to become a Habitat homeowner, the application is then submitted to the Board of Directors for approval.  This process may take up to six months to complete.

Equal Opportunity Housing

Watauga County Habitat for Humanity is pledged to the letter and spirit of U.S. policy for the achievement of equal housing opportunity throughout the nation.  We encourage and support an affirmative advertising and marketing program in which there are no barriers to obtaining housing because of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin.

No amount of support is too small.
